Finding Beer and Wine Establishments

REMEMBER: YOU CAN NOT DRINK ALCOHOL WHILE CARRYING A FIREARM IN NM.

As of July 1st, 2010, New Mexico law allows a concealed carry licensee to carry their handgun in restaurants that are licensed to serve Beer and Wine only. For example, most Pizza Huts, Fudruckers and Mexican restaurants sell Beer and Wine and derive more that 60 percent of their sales from food.

You may not carry in bars or any restaurants that have a full bar. For example, Red Lobster, Applebee's, Chili's or any establishment that sells any alcoholic beverage - other than beer or wine. NM Statutes are NOT similar to the TX 51 percent Statutes.

To find out what restaurants are beer and wine establishments in New Mexico, go to the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Division’s Facility Search page.

Use the following example to search in Albuquerque.

Click the Menu Drop-down and select Liquor Control | RESTUARANT | Active - as shown on the left. Enter the City in question on the right and click Search.

Click the Search button.  You get the result shown below.  In this example, you get 6 more pages of restaurants you can carry concealed firearms in – with a concealed carry license – after July 1st, 2010.
